seeking to evoke ‘unity under the luminous aura of milk’ the interior of this diary products store ‘dream dairy’ by japanese architecture firm moriyuki ochiai architects, helps to enhance the company’s image of the high quality milk products they use. located in chiba, japan the company also owns a diary farm and imagery of the farm and milk are reflected throughout the space. the interior has been painted with a green color gradient, suggestive of forest and meadows, giving the impression of a fresh and invigorating woodland. a milky light also radiates from the overhead sculpture made from layered resin boards – a material popularly used in the roofs of cowsheds. an ever-changing shower of light fills the space as it filters down from the twisting pieces above. a floating molded aluminum light intertwines with this overhead sculpture, as it runs along the ceiling. the shape of the store’s fixtures are molded using organic curves, expressing the freshness and vitality of milk.
