in an attempt to portray the feeling of floating on clouds, estudio felipe escudero (EFE) has completed a unique interior for a boutique motel room in quito, ecuador. a collection of fluid spatial elements in differents scales, combined with pale blue colors and soft light, generate a dreamy interior that reminds of japanese manga and vaporwave aesthetics.

a series of objects are installed within the interior by EFE, simulating human body parts, fluids, and other geometrical folies that seem to be melting in three dimensions. the loveseat is reinterpreted as a giant hand, crystal spheres float in space to contain toys, an escheresque spherical mirror is placed above the bed, while a dance pole is replaced by a giant fluid sculpture. other furniture pieces include a bed, a bathtub, a sink, and a ceremonial staircase that introduces the space.

materials were chosen to combine wood, fiberglass, metal, ceramic, and glass to achieve a mixture of off-white tones along with a blend of matte and shiny surfaces. meanwhile, only indirect lighting was used in order to produce a mysterious effect and to make sure users look good in soft illumination. the overall project by EFE was organized to provide the feeling of many spaces within one room.
