What? How was the synagogue convinced to go for “prayer shawl / bar code” . . . or, “menorah or the modern grid of a subway map?” I find the strips perfect for the street window, however. They remind me of so many places in Europe that would use them over the door (yes, I know . . . to keep the flies out). The paintings-turned-chairs look more like Rube Goldberg contraptions . . . just leave them on the wall.
Although I’m critical of a few ideas, overall I find the space inviting and well designed.
