with a multitude of joyously attractive yet highly functional hues, eastman’s ‘vanceva’ glazing products offer new possibilities to exterior and interior glass features. their polychrome glazing system presents an innovative, alternative solution away from monochrome glass. these, made of multiple colors of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers, can be combined to produce more than 17,000 shades that are transparent, translucent or solid.

the system of complex glazing first advanced from the state-of-the-art laminated glass of saflex PVB, which has become one of eastman’s key architectural products. the US company itself delivers advanced materials and speciality additives in the fields of transportation, construction and consumables. this is where, with its jewel-bright and rainbow-hued surfaces, ‘vanceva‘ comes in. it is suitable for a wide variety of architectural features, including atriums, curtain walls, glass doors, partitions and skylights.

the principle of interlayers allow architects and designers to create applications, be it exterior or interior, that are customized in the surface’s translucency and uniform. as well as highly visual colors, ‘vanceva’ also delivers quieter and more neutral hues, such as its ‘earth’ and ‘white’ collections. from the translucent ‘cool white’ to the medium light transparency of ‘artic snow’, or from the opaque ‘polar white’ to the graduating ‘illusion white’, the collection truly exemplifies the diverse application and benefits of the glazing product.

taking the ‘illusion white’ further, which progresses from medium to full transparency to reveal attractive vistas and to hide unwanted views, the glazing is equally appealing as it is functional. the product is rigorously tested to ensure structural performance and high durability in terms of efficient acoustic sound absorption and solar UV protection, which helps delay the fading of colours, safety, security and weight reduction.

in celebration of glazing system, eastman has launched the 2018 vanceva world of color awards – a name quite fitting when considering its abilities. the international competition aims to honor architects, interior designers, glass-makers, furniture designers and more for their innovative use of colored laminated safety glass. submissions will be judged by a global jury of professionals from the architecture and design industries, such as carlo santambrogio of design company santambrogiomilano and architects joakim lyth, nicholas leahy, rafael viñoly-menendez and sebastiano baldan. the closing date for submissions is may 31st, 2018.
