portuguese-based architecture firm estúdio AMATAM completes construction of its state-of-the-art fitness boutique ‘krush it’ in braga, portugalthe main goal of the project was designing a gym to look as unique as possible, while keeping a low budget — as a result, the designers used modest materials in innovative ways, giving the fitness center an industrial yet luxurious look.

the functional training space is divided into several training stations

estúdio AMATAM was constrained to developing a plan within an existing 290 sqm retail space. each studio features one essential activity: functional training divided into several training stations and a studio for spinning  classes (including an amphitheatre with invigorating music). the walls are built using concrete blocks, most of which are left uncovered, while the training room uses recycled rubber flooring because of its ability to absorb impact and reduce noise. to emphasize the reception, the lounge area and dressing rooms use glossy square tiles enhancing the contrast between the surrounding materials. moreover, most of the materials use a monochromatic gray to black color scheme, in order to give a certain roughness to the space.
