lamborghini has announced plans to renovate its campus in sant’agata, bologna. the compound was first established in the 1960s by ferruccio lamborghini himself, and has been continually scaled up over the brand’s successful history. needless to say, as lamborgini moves into the future, so does this iconic campus. to update its headquarters, studio novembre lead by the italian architect and designer fabio novembre, has been chosen. the firm has come up with these designs for a comprehensive redesign of the compound.

the fins evoke the two fundamental lines of lamborghini automobiles

the project is a massive undertaking and the design can be broken down three fields: the north side, the bauline and the compound. firstly the north side, or the main front of the compound, is made up of a mix of styles from the long history of the brand. the redesign proposes not to replace these structures but to weave a new facade between them creating a phyicsal timeline bridging the gap both physically and thematically between then and now. this design gives a comprehensive meaning to the brand. the actual structure is to be a polygonal creation as depicted in the final image, made of black perforated sheet metal, inspired by the lines of the cars. in addition, areas for auto demos are also being incorporated into the design to satisfy tourists and fans of the brand.

a new elevated walkway through the compound

the bauline is a new elevated walkway designed to cross the facility and offer insight into the workings of the factory. the walkway is decorated with vegetation, in significance of the facility going carbon neutral. the walkways orchestrates the various working of the facility and becomes a small open air museum.  the compound has fins that evoke the two fundamental lines of lamborighini automobiles; thus studio novembre has created a wholistic reading of the rich Italian brand. stay tuned for updates.
