located in niigata, japan, facet studio have designed an elegant and open family home characterized by its impressive spanning roof. internally, the exposed timber structure establishes a rhythmic pattern repeating across the entirety of the dwelling’s twenty-one meter length, where there are no supporting columns. echoing the project’s ceiling, shelving units are spaced 910 millimeters apart, twice the distance of the rafters.

the majority of accommodation is situated at the ground floor, including double-height living quarters, two spacious bedrooms and a two-car garage. an additional storage area is provided at an upper level, where an extra bedroom and study can be found.
