faraday future selects AECOM to build its vast manufacturing plant in the nevada desert

faraday future has announced that global infrastructure firm AECOM will construct its 3.2-million square foot electric car manufacturing plant in north las vegas, nevada. according to the design team, the production facility will utilize structural glass, a water feature, and dark sky-compliant outdoor lighting fixtures to welcome its thousands of workers.

AECOM’s design will also embrace visitors, with integrated viewing platforms allowing guests on guided tours to see faraday future’s vehicles during their assembly process. the project will also include energy-efficient oils, sustainable elevator systems and lighting, as well as prismatic skylights that naturally illuminate the plant. further energy savings will be realized through roof-mounted photovoltaic solar panels, as well as energy efficient heating and cooling systems.

demolition work, which is already underway, includes the digging of water retention pools to store water for compaction and use in the building’s cooling towers. other initial on-site work involves mass grading for the relocation of phone towers, fence lines, and the installation of temporary facilities. once the land grading process is complete later in 2016, the facility’s steel framework can begin assembly. to be delivered with a guaranteed maximum price, the project has an approximate construction value of $500 million USD.
