fathom has renovated the façade of ‘florist nakamura’, a long-established flower shop in japan’s kure city. the new, concrete exterior features a counter and stools where customers can wait and admire the florist’s work of preparing the bouquet on the other side of the window. hanging planters and other types of greenery complete the façade, forming a colorful landscape that is open to its surroundings.fathom completes the concrete façade of this japanese flower shop with an open counterall images by tatsuya tabii

fathom has added the waiting counter to the façade of ‘florist nakamura’ as a way of opening up the flower shop to the surrounding cityscape. customers can sit at the counter outside the store as if waiting for their coffee, and chat with the staff while waiting for their bouquet to be prepared. the counter extends to the inside of the store, doubling as a working surface for the florist.fathom completes the concrete façade of this japanese flower shop with an open counter

the façade is built mainly in concrete, while the part of the counter and window above incorporate wood in their construction. the while lines on the left side of the entrance are placed at regular intervals to enable the florist to measure the height of each plant. open to the city, the entire exterior of ‘florist nakamura’ has been transformed into a colorful landscape of flowers and greenery.fathom completes the concrete façade of this japanese flower shop with an open counter fathom completes the concrete façade of this japanese flower shop with an open counter fathom completes the concrete façade of this japanese flower shop with an open counter fathom completes the concrete façade of this japanese flower shop with an open counter fathom completes the concrete façade of this japanese flower shop with an open counter fathom completes the concrete façade of this japanese flower shop with an open counter
