fran silvestre has proposed one of his signature white residential designs for a client in los angeles. as the name of the dwelling suggests, ‘house in hollywood hills’ would be embedded into the iconic terrain, adapting to the steep topography, and positioned at different levels in order to frame the horizon of both the city and the ocean.

the client, john, commissioned fran silvestre to design a monolithic home that cantilevered from the hillside with large openings that provide uninterrupted views of the distant scenery. organized across two floors, with one below street level, the access into the home is via haslam terrace. the structure will be constructed from a grey stone and white plaster, referencing the rocky surroundings.

the communal program sits on an inverted L-shaped floor plan that frames views of los angeles. in this way, the property only has one opening which spans a length of 95 feet and simultaneously serves as a terrace.
