the exhibition focuses on the bold ideas that are the driving force behind frank gehry’s creativity, tying together their background and process with his unwavering conviction. the presentation is directed by tsuyoshi tane, a young japanese architect who has worked extensively in his home country, as well as europe. tane focuses on gehry’s ‘power of ideas’, which greatly affected his own work, composing the exhibition from the three perspectives of ‘architecture’, ‘people’, and ‘technology’.

gehry’s buildings are not based on overnight thoughts, cheap ideas, and spurs of the moment,’ states tsuyoshi tane. ‘ideas are tested, built up and broken down, beaten and examined, bullied, and abandoned. gehry believes in the toughest, most resilient ideas that survive the jealousies, temptations, and meddling of others. designing a building requires a range of conditions to be fulfilled, including client requirements, functions, budget, time constraints, and regulations.’
