renowned LA architect frank gehry might add to his portfolio of sun-kissed projects with a beachfront restaurant. the LA county board of supervisors have given the go ahead for the department of beaches and harbors to begin negotiations with puck and his team over development of two new restaurants at the site designed by gehry.

according to the los angeles times the board cleared the way on tuesday where celebrity chef wolfgang puck, who will take the helm at the restaurants, presented drawings of the proposed complex. puck said he wants to transform the property into a destination for travelers as well as a neighborhood restaurant by combining casual dining with fine dining. renderings of the project show a trio of turrets in an asymmetrical formation with walls of glass overlooking the beach and sloped pathways leading towards the sea.

the restaurant will replace pacific palisades restaurant gladstone’s malibu, included on a 2.8 acre parcel of county-owned land at will rogers beach that officials have been pushing for redevelopment of since at least 2016. as well as gehry three other groups also submitted proposals in september to the department of beaches and harbors to redevelop the 2.8-acre site. the board of supervisors voted 3 to 1 to authorize negotiations with regards to gehry’s proposal.
