in the attic of an emblematic building of classical early 20th century, madrid, is a  living space designed by spanish architect hector ruiz-velazquez. the design allows movement around a few square meters of alternating heights. the transition between the rooms is continuous and lets the movement flow freely across levels.   the spatial flexibility that transforms this home is an innovative housing concept which adapts to actual necessities.   ‘ceramic house’ responds to the assignment by ASCER (asociacion espanola de fabricantes de azulejos y pavimentos ceramicos – spanish association of tile and ceramic flooring manufacturers) for the creation of a new living concept, where the ceramic receives special treatment which turns it into the indisputable protagonist of the space.

the material of ceramic due to its versatility of application, offers multiple possibilities in its planimetry. the project is completely made using a ceramic dry system installation that can be reused if one has to move house. due to the way it is built it is sustainable (dry system doesn’t have construction) it minimizes the environmental impact of not having waste on site and no noise pollution in the installation.
