in the austrian region of heiligengeist, design studio holodeck architects realizes its latest residential project ’embedded house’, an exceptionally striking villa which sits at the top of a sloping terrain. the award-winning design explores different spatial and technical parameters that perfectly integrate the house within the existing context.

holodeck architects have explored different features and layers during the design process, among them: the existing villa structure, topography, landscape views, planning and building laws, and the development of the client’s family. based on the analysis and assessment of those parameters, the embedded house is defined along the site’s slope — in reference to the surrounding landscape. the final choice and colors of materials used in the architectural design create striking contrasts with the vibrant green grass and provincial nature of the austrian upperland.
