Glamping facility with barrel sauna

With sweeping views that spill over to the Japanese Alps, ‘From P’ is a glamping resort with private saunas and outdoor baths in Shirauma Village. The project consists of tents shaped like geodesic domes, while the facilities of the sauna and bath are modeled into neglected 100-year-old soy sauce barrels. The barrels have been used at the Daimon Soy Sauce Factory in Nara Prefecture for over 100 years and have been sitting idle in a warehouse due to a decrease in soy sauce production. Thus, P-Bo Co., which operates the resort, came up with the idea of giving a new life to the barrels through repurposing. Nature lovers can enjoy the hot steam in a 2-meter-deep wooden barrel overlooking the snowy landscape of Hakuba and then take a cold plunge for a complete sense of rejuvenation.

tamed scenery meets luxurious camping

‘From P’ is the first dome-shaped glamping facility in Hakuba Village, Nagano Prefecture. Surrounded by magnificent nature, Hakuba Village is known for hiking and other outdoor activities that attract a number of tourists throughout the year. Located at an altitude of 700m, the resort frames vast panoramas, fostering a luxurious experience ‘in the pure air of the Japanese Alps’. Each dome-shaped tent is equipped with a private Finnish sauna and a water bath, combining well-being and reconnection with nature.

P-Bo Co. has transformed soy sauce barrels with a diameter of 1.7m and a height of 2m into water baths. Users can plunge into Hakuba’s melted snow water with their whole bodies. ‘Sweat in our authentic Finnish sauna, experience a soy sauce barrel cold bath in the great nature of Hakuba, and spend time with your family, friends, and partners in a dome tent.’

There are two types of tents: a dome-shaped tent with a diameter of 7m and a composite-type tent with a bigger capacity. The spacious rooms are air-conditioned and heated. The tent, which has been used in resort facilities in cold regions in Poland, Switzerland, and Europe, has a double structure and excellent insulation that is not affected by the outside temperature, so you can undoubtedly spend time in Hakuba Village even in winter.
