perched on a hillside in hyogo, japan, maniera architects and associates has completed a family dwelling which provides a strong and direct connection with the natural environment. titled ‘house with oak tree’, the home is reduced to its most essential elements, featuring minimal furnishings and decoration that ensure a series of bright, comfortable and ambient spaces.
the scheme utilizes the plot’s natural gradient to form a two-storey property complete with mezzanine level. internal volumes encourage contemplation and relaxation, with vast glazing offering expansive and panoramic views across the city. the focal point of the design is a double-height living space which features a gabled window providing a direct view of an adjacent oak tree, while the rokko mountain range is also visible along the horizon.
