‘vila hermina’ by HSH architects is situated on a sloping terrain on the outskirts of cernín, prague. the same slope is used internally for the floors, with the interior layout based on alternating straight and inclined floors. these surfaces create the overall spiraling character of the interior, and define the building’s external appearance. the sloping platforms are also able to accommodate movie projections. windows and other openings are placed with respect of the external facade, while each of the walls has only one opening. for thermal and water insulation, a polyurethane spray with a pink finish has been used as an homage to ‘versuchsanstalt fur wasserbau und schiffbau’ by ludwig leo.
