looking to find an escape from the city, local practice hunt architects constructed a modest wooden garden studio located in a lush brooklyn back yard hidden by a towering brownstone. from the exterior, natural wooden planks clad the angular building with a large louvered window looking into the yard, while the green roof further hides the structure within the garden. the interior is instead marked by a stark white presence articulated by the rough timber texture of the walls. a skylight is revealed that floods the interior with natural light and along with the large aperture in the wall gives the user various controlled views that hide the surrounding urban environment while making the interior feel open to the outside. the white interior helps create a blank canvas in which to relax and forget about the city.
