the ‘lanserhof resort’, by german practice ingenhoven architects, is located in the rolling landscape of southern bavaria on lake tegernsee. a health center, the facility offers preventative and regenerative treatments for up to seventy patients at a time. luxurious accommodations are matched with state-of-the-art medical care, aligning architectural design to the client’s holistic principles.

ingenhoven architects decided that a classic cloister-type floor plan would be most appropriate for the project. four equal wings surround a protected courtyard that offers ample space and access to nature. suites, which are located consistently on the upper two stories, overlook the area. thanks to large windows and loggias, the central greenery is far from the only sight available. also within view is a sprawling golf course, the center’s bathhouse, and the striking bavarian landscape.

sliding shutters and wooden lamellas provide visual privacy and solar shading for loggias, and cohesively create an interesting composition of open and closed areas. a palette almost exclusively composed of natural materials support the therapeutic effect of ‘lanserhof’, and all choices meet criteria imposed by the german sustainable building council. due to the overwhelmingly positive reception of the facility, ‘lanserhof’ has commissioned ingenhoven architects to renovate their ‘lans’ facility in tirol, austria later this year.
