casa en tres ríos fosters an introspective relationship

casa en tres ríos’ in culiacán, méxico, takes shape as an elongated introverted structure, that is nestled among two party walls. césar béjar studio sought to employ a simple plan strategy, avoiding additional ornaments and decoration, focusing on the different materials and vivid light qualities.

the continuity of the facade breaks the surrounding plasticity through the contrast of color, shape, and texture; a slightly raised pink mass made of exposed concrete contributes to the introspective character of the concept and frames the privacy. furthermore, a same-color metal door that encloses the garage area, creates a small void between the mass above, stimulating passers-by curiosity.introverted patios and terraces add pops of color to the otherwise monochrome interiorall images courtesy of césar béjar

the character of the interior is born from the colors

césar béjar studio (see more here) designed inward-facing patios and terraces in an attempt to add pops of colors to the otherwise white interior. serving as a blank canvas devoid of color and texture, the monochrome interior with the neutral surfaces reflects the pink tones of the patios and the direct overhead yellow light.

the result is a delicate warm ambiance, that derives from the natural light during the day. small blue windows change these hues and intensify the color variants and complement the warm tones. the three-storey structure is interrupted by voids that generate a visual connection between the two double heights. once residents enter the dwelling, and their gaze rises up, immediately the house’s perspective is prolonged and the feeling of narrowness is softened.introverted patios and terraces add pops of color to the otherwise monochrome interior
