Project Kick-Off for seehaus community

berlin-based practice j. mayer h. unveils the latest images of a community building designed for gaspar in southern brazil. the complex is named ‘SEEHAUS community’ and will provide a host of leisure facilities and social functions for residents of the new SEEHAUS residential development.

under a large, wave-shaped white roof, the program includes meeting rooms, restaurants, bars, a spa, and a gym. there’s also a lush outdoor pool where SEEHAUS residents can meet and relax. the welcome areas, the gathering spaces and all the leisure areas around the pool are based on the fluid geometry of the lake.

the project by j. mayer h. makes reference to a 1953 church in nearby blumenau designed by late german architect gottfried boehm. echoing the modernist church, the SEEHAUS community building is composed of an organic roof shape on thin columns that hoovers above the social spaces. meanwhile, indoor-outdoor relationships anchor the buildings in the green lush landscape.

described as a fresh fusion of european and brazilian design, the SEEHAUS project will create a new town with communal spaces for gatherings, conferences, and cultural events.
