designed by JADE+QA, and with interiors by stylus studio, the joe lalli narada resort hotel takes its ques from the bamboo and pine forests of the surrounding moganshan mountains, near hangzhou, china. the 14,000 sqm building is the main hotel facility of the leisure resort, and houses the main reception, banqueting and conference rooms, restaurants and bars on upper levels, as well as the back of the house facilities for the entire resort on the basement.images courtesy of stylus studio & JADE+QA
in the process of developing the form and materials of the joe lalli narada resort hotel, JADE+QA has drawn references from the picturesque natural environment of the moganshan mountains, as well as the lakes, waterfalls, tea farms and rain clouds of the area. built with the aim of blending into its surroundings, the resort takes an organic form comprising four main, interlocking structures that house the main facilities. orientation, exterior wall construction, green roofs with solar panels, and the use of local materials, including bamboo and hardwood, all contribute to the building’s sustainable character.
mirroring the exterior architecture and environment, the resort’s interior design by stylus studio is bold, organic, and alluring. the ethereal forms of the ballroom and lobby lounge both reinterpret the tea flower indigenous to moganshan, while materials, textures and colors also reflect those of the surrounding area. ‘known as the “shanghai hamptons”, the aim was to entice guests back to the region,’ notes the studio, ‘to relax and rejuvenate in style and inspire them by creating an unexpected experience using expected natural materials.’
