jasper architects unveils immersive hotel oasis in kuwait’s golden dunes
with a perforated concrete roof that folds, private suites fitted with spas, private pools and common living areas unravel over a span of 19,866sqm in the sandy landscape

winding in the grainy dunes of kuwait, jasper architects reveals ‘dunas’, a mesmerizing hotel design. in a largely deserted country, the competition winning project proposes an immersive oasis observing the sandy landscape from within. inspired by the surroundings, soft curvilinear geometries of concrete follow the ground, unravelling within the private suites, swimming pools and spas.

spanned over 19,866sqm, the structure by jasper architects undulates offering spectacular views across the desert around allowing the hotel guests to experience and marvel at the scenery. the circular roof that folds down in a radial array creates spaces for the luxurious suites fitted with spa salons private pools and common living areas, while the smooth touchpoints between each room give access to the roof. enhancing visible connections further, the clear sky is framed through the playful, perforated concrete sheet.
dunas unfolds in hues, textures, shapes and colors that almost camouflage within the golden hills. in terms of the construction, pigmented shotcrete paired with pigmented readymade concrete elements make up the design. for the alluring interiors, wood and rammed earth are integrated as they bring together the natural materials.
