in paris’ 15th arrondissement, jean nouvel has completed a multi-storey furniture showroom for RBC — a distributor of contemporary furniture. the exhibition space stands behind a redesigned façade that features two large windows. upon entering the building, several interactive screens display different stages of product development, or announce current events. the showroom opened in advance of maison et objet 2018, the interior design fair that presents the latest home decor trends from around the world.

jean nouvel design has conceived the RBC showroom’s three levels as open and flexible spaces, allowing multiple layouts and configurations. floors are unified by a gray resin, while white walls serve as a neutral backdrop to the furniture on display. the uppermost level, which hosts exhibitions and other events, is flooded with natural light thanks to a structured glass canopy above. meanwhile, a glass floor helps illuminate the two lower levels.
