jean nouvel’s one new change shopping centre in london has officially opened. located directly across from the famous st paul’s cathedral, the project initially stirred up controversy when plans were first released in 2005 where by prince charles unsuccessfully tried preventing nouvel’s scheme from realization.

developed by land securities and designed by jean nouvel together with sidell gibson architects and engineers arup, the building has more than 6,000 floor-to-ceiling glass panes, and has 20,400 sq m (220,000 sq ft) of retail space along with 30,700 sq m of office space.

the developers and the city of london hope that one new change will help transform the city from a nine-to-five weekday centre to a seven-day social destination.
