Ladbroke Hall Opens its Garden with Jean Prouvé Pavilion

On May 16th, 2024, Ladbroke Hall, a notable arts and social club in London, introduces its new garden featuring a pavilion designed by the renowned Jean Prouvé. Created by Luciano Giubbilei, the secret garden is conceived as a playful hide-and-seek haven, with the wooden pavilion serving as its centerpiece. Prouvé’s structure, characterized by its lightweight and functional design, blends into the surroundings, providing a serene space for private dining amidst the lush greenery.

a testament to Prouvé’s architectural legacy

As mentioned above, the inspiration behind this garden was to create a hide-and-seek setting for Loïc Le Gaillard, the co-founder of Ladbroke Hall (find more here), and his children. The space, filled with hydrangeas and bamboo, features a new outdoor dining area seating 70 people, extending the offerings of the recently opened Pollini restaurant. At its heart, the garden boasts the Jean Prouvé-designed pavilion (find more here) which houses a secluded private dining space, providing an intimate setting for 18 people.

Inspired by Jean Prouvé’s work in post-war modernist design, the pavilion reflects his innovative approach to architecture. From its standardized metal fixtures to its wood paneling components, every detail embodies Prouvé’s commitment to functionality and elegance. Prouvé’s demountable houses, originally created for post-war housing needs, showcased his patented technology for easy assembly and relocation. The pavilion stands as a testament to Prouvé’s legacy, blending practicality with design innovation and carrying forward his vision of creating beautiful and functional spaces.
