walking through the misty urban landscape of madrid, photographer joel filipe captures some of the city’s most striking buildings as they disappear into the sky. titled ‘into the fog’, the image sequence reflects on the concept of looking up from time to time, a gesture that can offer some surprising revelations.

filipe’s photographic series dwells on the idea of living in a world where we often walk with our heads down, caught up in our own busy lives. hence, taking the time to tilt our head upwards can be a refreshing experience. for this project, he has explored the idea of changing perspectives — going from vertical to horizontal and vice versa. the project shows the raw quality of the fog, exactly at the moment of capturing the image.
