for what would be his 100th birthday, the john lautner foundation is presenting ‘john lautner (1911-1994) turns 100’, a series of exhibitions and events surrounding the radical and innovative designs of the american architect. running from june 24th to november 13, 2011, the initiative is looking to not only showcase the extensive body of work – many of which were never realized – but also to educate the public on the importance of preserving it.

taking place in los angeles and marquette michigan, the program includes exhibitions, film screenings, home tours, symposia and receptions that highlight the architect’s most significant work. progressive and humane, the designs each feature dramatic details and a space-age aesthetic that have influenced schools of architects since.

‘john lautner foundation at dwell on design’ will inaugurate the months-long series at dwell on design in los angeles between june 24th and 26th, 2011. for a list of event times and locations, click here.
