set amid the rolling welsh countryside, ‘life house’ is a dwelling proposed by john pawson, positioned to maximize the home’s views across the adjacent valley. the project is part of the ongoing living architecture series which sees a number of high profile architects and designers complete exemplar residential properties throughout the united kingdom.

the exterior of the building will be constructed from black danish handmade bricks, allowing the structure to unobtrusively occupy the cascading landscape. internally, two perpendicular corridors connect the home’s two contrasting contemplation areas. while one is partially submerged at a subterranean level, the other opens up to the natural environment, framing views of the impressive surroundings. three en-suite bedrooms are crafted for the experiences of music, reading and bathing respectively.

throughout the design, the polished terrazzo floors and the light timber ceilings combine to establish a bight and tranquil ambiance, suitable for year round accommodation.

‘life house’ by john pawson is scheduled to be completed by 2015.
