karv one design fills school in china with soft shapes and pastel shades

karv one design was commissioned by fantasia holdings chengdu to link children’s education with an aesthetic environment resulting in blossom school. located in china, the school advocates for the ‘aesthetic education of the future’. karv one design intended to provide a space that enables users to explore it entirely, and feel relaxed and pleased at the same time.

the architects filled the spaces with pastel colors and soft shapes, creating a soothing environment for the children. the interior design is meant for children to experience as play areas, or games, and for them to use their wild imaginations. the architects also wanted to bring a ‘beautiful world into children’s lives’, appealing to the aesthetic, clean lines and the cohesive color and material palettes.

each area of the school has its own character and features different colored elements. the entrance lobby features a delicate mural, made out of a metal lattice of shapes and patterns. it serves as the backdrop for the reception desk, which is lined with small plants and white flowers, providing a welcoming entrance for both kids and the parents. the greenery and subtle lighting sets a calm and relaxed mood, ideal for children to enter into a more tranquil space.

the open theater becomes not only a stage for children to express themselves, but also a public communication space that encourages interactions. it is clad in warm colors, including a thread installation along its walls, with yellow lines that imitate spotlights around the room. their illumination gives off a warm light, perfect for performances and quieter lectures.

the cafeteria, bathrooms ands play areas are filled with children-friendly furniture pieces and elements. clearly designed for a smaller-scale, the children feel empowered when they can open the bathroom faucet on their own, move their own chairs around, and reach the shelves by themselves. one classroom is clad with a more cushioned, green fabric, better suited for kids at that height. karv one design’s choice of bright colors, soft shapes and relaxing lighting creates an ideal education space that is balanced with fun and play.
