‘tsuchihashi house’ designed by japanese architect kazuyo sejima is a 72m2 home situated in tokyo, japan, unveiled by JA+U (Japan Architecture+Urbanism. the vertical configuration of the dwelling offers a full height atrium which allows light to flood down from the roof through to the ground floor where the kitchen and dining areas are situated. the open concept visually connects each of the storeys which are accessed by staircases that run parallel to one another, alternating sides of the structure as one moves through the space.

each of the levels has individual functions. the slightly-sunken basement level houses the main living space followed by the eating and living areas, crowned by the bathroom and bedroom quarters. a rooftop terrace offers inhabitants an outdoor space to easily access sunlight and fresh air. 

the floors are covered in 25mm-thick corrugated steel decking which is riveted to the underside of a 3.2 mm-thick steel plate, expressing a clean minimalist look which works with the white walls and natural wood build-ins.
