for the ‘eicher great room remodel’ by klopf architecture, what was once a disjointed set of rooms were all combined into one large great room, complete with an added kitchen. the open, contemporary design space admits light and openness to nature and allows this family with small children to live together in comfort. a minimal use of structure, such as the thin pilotis and horizontal roof members, maximizes the amount of occupiable area for the residents to rearrange in a way that compliments their needs. as the ceiling slants, rectangles have been voided from its surface, making way for skylights and clerestory windows for both public and private programs.
