klopf architecture has constructed a contemporary addition to a traditionally-styled house in california. realized in collaboration with homeowner and designer tanja digrande, the concept takes a visual departure from the original residence, creating a contrast and distinction between the home and its latest inclusion.

shaped as a black box, the exterior has an industrial feeling. it is made up of dark gray stuccoed walls, steel railings and floor-to-ceiling windows that let natural light in. the interiors, completely dedicated to living, showcase simple and clean-lined open spaces. the master bedroom together with the open master bathroom, are found on the top floor, and epitomize the minimal style of the rear addition. a roof deck that can be accessed from the outside through a spiral staircase, is the perfect place to entertain guests.

klopf architecture‘s minimal modern addition offers lofty interiors that provide sightlines to the original home.
