designed by korean firm SAMOO architects and engineers in collaboration with heerim architects & planners, the 11-story building in daegu is the home to the headquarters of the korea gas corporation. a prominent cooperation in the metropolitan city, the architectural strategy revolves around the concept of an ‘eco vessel’ in turn, emitting an image of clean and efficient design. one of the aims was to integrate various sustainable technologies into the building such as geo-thermal heating, PV, natural ventilation and BIPV. on the exterior, the distinct feature of the headquarters is the dynamic slope of the tower; imitating the flow of energy, it supports the creation of a balance between construction and landscape. the site itself is located surrounded by forestry focusing on bringing together the users, nature and local citizens in one space and with the architect’s decision to integrate outdoor terraces on each floor and greenery throughout the building, a language between the built and natural environment is achieved.
