located on a prominent corner plot in a quiet area of osaka, japanese architect kohki hiranuma has completed a 2 storey dental clinic that successfully blends with the existing urban landscape. after a lengthy research into the site and its characteristics, the design team sought to create a piece of socially sustainable architecture that would help facilitate the region’s development.

using the existing gabled roofs of the adjacent buildings as a starting point, the structure’s form is a more abstract version of its neighbors, with brilliant white façades acting as canvasses that complement the activity along the passing street. large, carefully positioned openings present external views of surrounding greenery, while internally, the timber framework is left exposed, furthering the building’s strong relationship with the natural environment.
