australian architecture practices lacoste + stevenson and DJRD have submitted one of three shortlisted entries for
the new marrickville library competition. with a strong reference to the surrounding australian scenery, the design blends structure
and landscape. contrasting the linear qualities of the former hospital and surrounding heritage buildings,
the proposal focuses on the curvilinear roof, planted with tall prairie grasses.

high amounts of natural light and comfortable furniture give the interior offer a domestic setting, making the community feel more at home.
this is a response to the changing functions of libraries in general both from a service, technological and communication perspective.

the competition is targeting a perfect six on the green star rating scale.
