the ‘song-chu bending band’ may well be one of the most visually defined trailheads in korea. located at the entrance of the song-chu valley at the base of the bukhansan mountain, the area is frequented by climbers, tourists, and day-trippers from seoul. as well used as it is, the only places to rest available were at local businesses.

l’eau design created the ‘song-chu bending band’ as a peaceful place that not only gives visitors to the town a place to relax before their adventures, but the locals as well. the land is characterized by six fully grown mulberry trees, which the landowner’s father has tended to for over forty years. the structure takes advantage of the trees, who in turn illuminate the historical significance present. eventually more structures, presumably businesses such as the café will be added-on, in a linear manner that runs along the trail.
