amidst the keukenhof cultural park, a popular destination in the netherlands known as one of the largest flower gardens in europe, dutch studio KVDK architects has realized the lisse art museum (LAM). the project emerges from a historic dike and blends within the surrounding nature through the use of bricks in earthy shades and large openings.

LAM, supported by the vandenbroek foundation, which also runs one of the country’s largest supermarket chains, is developed as a food & consumption art museum. KVDK architects has focused on finding the perfect balance between the surrounding park and the art galleries, resulting in an understated, yet well crafted structure. divided in two volumes, the museum’s lightweight interior is shaped by various sections of glass, while large openings invite ample light into the exhibition spaces and maintain a clear relationship with the outside.
