MAUD’s ‘hsinta cultural and ecological electri-city’ competition proposal is in response to the future development of the hsinta power plant development plan in taiwan. the proposal is aimed to provide a development framework to reduce the negative impact such as air pollution and biological disconnection on site. the plan will also create a new face for the island’s green energy and a frontier global citizen to protect our environment.

taiwanese and english based firm MAUD‘s concept behind the master plan proposal derives from the area’s original function as a power generation node. the idea is to open up and utilize parts of the power plant energy generation process such as the condensate water cooling process and cooling water pond for education and visiting purpose. the main recycled water will be used for the designated water theme park within the proposal.

the ‘hsinta electri-city’ proposal will maintain the area’s historical identity by taking the power plant as the main township development strategy for the hsinta town area. MAUD’s urban concept is to interconnect the local biological and ecological diversity to the power plant area due to its surrounding heavily fish farming industry. the geographical plan will re-shape back to the nature’s original landscape and create a visitor’s leisure and natural environment for the hsinta local area.

the emergent mountain-like peak reflects the sustainable system through the site. the proposal creates a circulation network which stitches together the separate fabric from all directions. it gives a permeable and natural interface for locals and visitors to channel through the site. the cross of circulation links up a series of vibrant public programs for both the locals and tourists.

MAUD’s proposal aims to reconcile community and biodiversity. it will act as an eco-transitional urban device, transferring and linking the diversity of the surrounding urban and culture elements and programs. the project will interconnect the north hsinta township, providing its natural and leisure resources to the local and visitors.
