ducasse sur seine floating restaurant by galante and lancman explores the movement of the river

the new ‘ducasse sur seine’ restaurant opened its doors at the beginning of october — the interior design here reflects the excellence of the world’s most michelin-starred living chef alain ducasse, as well as the novelty of this directional project. the partners, citysurfing, ducasse paris, and caisse des dépôts, have commissioned the talented duo of couturier-designers maurizio galante and tal lancman, to take over the creative and cultural direction of the floating restaurant.

the sleek and modern 40-meters long electrically powered boat has been specially designed for alain ducasse by the naval architect gérard ronzatti. to harmonize with the magnificent environment, encompassing pont de l’alma, the iena bridge, the eiffel tower, and passing boats on the river, galante and lancman created a visual language directly inspired by the movement and reflections of the seine.

by bringing the exterior inside, the designers have conceived ducasse sur seine’s particularly exquisite atmosphere to synch with its surroundings. motifs of waves and ripples are explored in the restaurant — this concept carries the notions of movement, reflection, and fluidity of water, as well as its shapes, expressed through multiple facets, like furniture to tableware.
