designed by MM++ architects, the ‘thao dien house’ results from the renovation of a villa located in a suburb east of ho chi minh city, vietnam. the project’s intention was to provide a more-contemporary aesthetic and living quality to the mediterranean referencing existing structure. thus, the dwelling was transformed to include simplified and minimally expressed forms, while allowing for increased openings and daylight to the interior spaces.

the monolithic white volume is distinguished on one corner by a vegetated wall, which provides gentle daylight to an upper level terrace while visually connecting the structure with the site’s large garden. the residence’s ground floor unites the living room, dining, and kitchen into a single open space, which features large glass doors on two sides to connect it with an outdoor deck and swimming pool.
