japanese architects minatoya michiyo and otsuka tatsuya of m+o have completed a family home built on toyohira heights in the country’s northern region of sapporo. entitled ‘maru’ after the residents’ cat, the dwelling takes advantage of the sun’s natural movement with carefully placed windows of all sizes ensuring that occupants can gauge the passing of time throughout the day. the open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen area is in positioned within a semi-double height space with a large arch leading to the upper level of the property.
