‘the barn’ creates a contemplative art viewing experience

Nestled within the British countryside, Boano Prišmontas’ The Barn marries traditional barn aesthetics with modern construction techniques. As both a private art gallery and contemplative sanctuary, the space has been crafted to evoke a sense of peace and serenity to elevate the art viewing experience. The use of industrial and natural materials and small windows topped by a bold arching roof creates a typically inviting barn-like atmosphere to encourage reflection. Further fostering a harmonious relationship with the rural context that envelops The Barn, the London-based architecture office has punctuated the timber and concrete facade structure with small, humble openings. These offer fleeting glimpses of the Hertfordshire countryside within the timber-clad interior and create an immersive experience that merges the visitor with the natural world.

Boano Prišmontas positions the space in the british countryside

Stepping inside, a warm and serene ambiance engulfs the space. The team at Boano Prišmontas has configured an open and expansive interior with a natural flow between spaces, encouraging intuitive exploration and discovery. The walls are adorned with artworks, with each piece thoughtfully curated to complement the natural beauty of the space and the curve of the arch creating additional space to showcase larger pieces.

The implementation of CNC technology throughout the construction of The Barn has also enabled precision and intricacy. The arched roof creates an elevated sense of height and grandeur, while the exposed wooden beams and brickwork add a touch of rustic charm. The use of natural materials throughout further enhances this and imbues warmth, creating a space that is both contemporary and timeless.
