museum dhondt-dhaenens has announced two new funded residencies at the ‘woning van wassenhove’, a landmark modernist building designed by the flemish architect juliaan lampens in sint-martens-latem, near ghent, belgium. the first, titled ‘faba artist residency’, is aimed at practicing artists in any creative field, who have taken part in at least one solo and one group exhibition in public institutions. ‘art & architecture residency’, the second one, is addressed to practitioners in any creative discipline whose work is situated at the intersection of art and architecture. applicants should be able to demonstrate a multi-year commitment to exploring the interface between these two fields.

since the woning is a single-person heritage house, the emphasis is primarily on reflection and research, although production that respects the house’s integrity is possible. the way the applicants choose to take advantage of their stay in the woning van wassenhove is open, so long as the house’s occupation, locality, and architectural identity are put to productive use.

applicants can only register to one of the two residencies that are offered. the two residencies will allow one europe-based candidate of any nationality to stay in the woning van wassenhove for up to four consecutive weeks between september and december 2021. the resident is expected to organize a public-facing output at the woning van wassenhove or the museum dhondt-dhaenens, either at the end of their stay or later, showcasing aspects of their practice.
