mozhao architects builds the living art pavilion with six unit blocks in shenzhen

located in shenzhen‘s bao an district, the living art pavilion by mozhao architects combines two different programs: an independent furniture store and fruit tea house. composed of six unit blocks with walls at different heights, the building merges into a large indoor space in the middle, containing the exhibition space of the furniture store.

mozhao architects has drawn from traditional building elements – the sloping roof and courtyard space – for the living art pavilion, which incorporates a roof structure with a concrete rib beam that enhances the interior perspective effect of the sloping roof. with the change of the height of the wall and the sloping beam, the trees in the courtyard appear indistinctly. at the same time, the bare concrete beam retains the wood texture of the pine formwork. simple white walls and gray concrete tiles are well integrated into the natural surroundings, while courtyard spaces of each unit are arranged either south or north.
