MWS arquitectura has completed ‘casa GS’, a sprawling residence built near the sierras chicas mountain range in a rural region of central argentina. the property has been designed for a family that currently lives in the nearby city of córdoba, but desired a country dwelling for weekend escapes, as well as eventually forming a permanent residence after retirement.

MWS arquitectura was tasked with creating a large 750 square meter home that would remain unnoticed amid the site’s existing landscape. the plot, which measures approximately 10,000 square meters, is bordered to the south and west by a sunken gorge with a hidden river. the architects sought to develop a ‘timeless house’, which placed an emphasis on materiality, craftsmanship, and construction.

internally, the program is generously laid out across a single storey, with an L-shaped footprint that takes advantage of both south and west orientations. one wing of the property includes the home’s primary living accommodation, with kitchen, dining, and living facilities, while the other contains four bedrooms — including one large master suite.

while the living room has floor-to-ceiling windows that offer generous views out across the landscape, other areas of the home look out onto stonewalled patios — a series of enclosed spaces that have been conceived as outdoor living rooms. a study and a two-car garage also form part of the plan.
