brooklyn-based nARCHITECTS combines indoor and outdoor living in their ordos 100 concept. dubbed ‘villa-villa’ the residence contains a traditional insulated home combined with a walled-in courtyard space that is open to the sky. the concept was based on the fluctuating temperatures of the ordos climate. the plan allows the residents to have a high level of flexibility in the spaces. the inner, traditional house features three stories, each designed with a particular living pattern in mind. the levels are stacked on each other creating a series of terraces on the inside and exterior. the inner house is detailed in warm materials and colours while the courtyards and terraces are rougher yet light filled form the generous sky lights.
