the proposal for the museum of bavarian history by german studio NE-AR combines the past, present and future in its geometric articulation. drawing energy from history and tradition, while focusing on the forward thinking of the nation, the design aims to offer a sense of cultural diversity. located close to the daunaulände – an interface between the original city fortification and its commercial center – the division of the volumes responds to the site’s push and pull. orientated to the danube side, a generous, open structure gradually unfolds to face the MDBG. the faceted angles develop a level of friction between these forces, while offering a balance between the old and new.
