located near the river in the heart of córdoba’s mountain range, argentina, ‘SUM santa catalina’ is a secluded shelter that serves as a social space, inviting family and friends to spend time together. the project by de la rua architecture studio takes shape as a warm, spacious environment, with noble, pure materials that convey the very essence of what they generate on their own. the architects designed a glazed suspended bridge to connect the two volumes that assemble the project, providing the visitors with the impression of being outside.noble materials complete 'SUM santa catalina' shelter in córdoba, argentinaall images courtesy of de la rua architecture studio

de la rua architecture studio sought to generate a harmonious architecture that does not clash with the privileged environment in which it is located. natural lighting and the choice of the furniture were the key elements to give balance to the interior. furthermore, ‘SUM santa catalina’ features a space for rest, with a large fireplace, and tables for fifty people, and a barbecue area accompanied by a recovered and restored bar of more than 45 years.noble materials complete 'SUM santa catalina' shelter in córdoba, argentina

as a reflection of the interior to the exterior, a kitchen was also generated to accompany and assist the development of the main activity of this social space, adding a unique warmth yet privacy. accompany this space, the architects created a place of games for the smallest of the family, where they can develop their activities, without breaking the main function of this main nave. each piece of interior design was designed and mainly contributing a lot of personality to the whole set.noble materials complete 'SUM santa catalina' shelter in córdoba, argentina

meanwhile, the tones provided by each material used predominate; the nobility of the wood, the reflection of the glass, the solidity of the stone, and the cast iron. a nexus was projected and executed to this social architecture with a private volume of rest, including a kitchen, laundry room, living room, master bedroom and bathroom, continuing with the same emotional and architectural language. this union was achieved through a glazed suspended bridge, where the sensation that it produces when traveling is as if you were outside.noble materials complete 'SUM santa catalina' shelter in córdoba, argentina
