phagnan island is a tranquil island off thailand’s coast with preserved coconut fields whose forms and colors serve as the starting point for the coconut-nume houses by thai practice NPDA studio. the primary structure consists of exposed polished concrete that emits a natural earth-tone feel. the color relates to the tree trunks and also represents the material used in many local houses.

rich textured wood planks and bamboo make up the small highlights of the house: fences, window and door trim and small designed panels of timber on the exterior. black painted PVC pipes are cut and stacked as a privacy filter in the shower area while still offering views to the outside. the flat slab roof plane provides an ideal spot to view the stars at night or the surrounding seas of water and coconuts. each getaway home acts as its own structural unit complete with a small pool and orientation – all in all the resort consists of four individual modules each with their own unique views.
